We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Work Health & Safety Risk Specialist at our Perth Head Office (363 Wellington Street, Perth), on an 8-Month Maximum term basis.

About this role

As the Senior Work Health & Safety Risk Specialist you will be required to provide strategic advice for the effective management of work health and safety risk management across Western Power, Working on Western Power's Critical Risk Management (CRM) Project, this is an exciting role to support the team during the Project's Implementation.

This includes:

  • Monitor and report on critical work health and safety risks that impact on Western Power to ensure continual improvement of work health and safety performance.
  • Provide strategic direction, subject matter expertise and advice in relation to the development and ongoing management of Western Power's work health and safety risk management programs, with a focus on the successful implementation of Critical Risk Management.
  • Undertake fatality education to all levels of the business.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing review of risk management programs and associated processes. This includes documentation, system and processes required to implement Critical Risk Management.
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior executive and management teams in relation to management of work health and safety performance.
  • Contribute to successful outcomes in relation to projects where SEQT provides a supporting role.
  • Support and assist the business in the development and implementation of work health and safety risk management initiatives, as required.
  • Liaison with key internal stakeholders to develop appropriate risk treatment strategies.
  • Formulate direction and strategy to identify, manage and mitigate Western Power's work health and safety risk exposures. This includes consultation with Head's of Function, Area Managers and Function groups.

About you

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Tertiary level qualification in Safety, Risk, or other relevant discipline
  • Extensive experience in the provision of strategic advice and guidance to senior management on work health and safety risk and related issues.
  • Extensive experience in the provision of work health and safety risk advice and management of change.
  • Experience in developing and delivering risk management studies including facilitation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Work, Health and Safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to think creatively and influence stakeholder, take initiative, plan, and execute complex projects.
