Your Opportunity
The Workforce Optimisation team is responsible for developing job cards (Rail Traffic Crew daily activities) to support changes to Queensland Rail’s SEQ Master Train Plan, Concept Modelling, special events, and large-scale network closures.
Our team of specialists combine the use of HASTUS and internally developed tools with a comprehensive understanding of our business, to provide robust, data-driven insights to help inform future strategic planning for traincrew. We are a supportive unit that works collaboratively both internally across our organisation and with external stakeholders.
To support the team’s portfolio of work, we are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Adviser (AS7) on an initial 12-month part-time, fixed-term basis (3 days per week / 0.6 FTE). This will be a job share opportunity with the following responsibilities:
- Contributing leadership, technical analysis and insights towards conceptual operational planning projects that identify, assess and inform future operational changes to meet Queensland Rail’s Vision, Purpose, Strategy and Corporate Plans.
- Strong ability to work with subject matter experts and effectively communicate complex data outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Coaching and mentoring team members and being a visible leader in our team.
- Building strong relationships to support strategy development and demonstrating skills delivering effective communications to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting business development initiatives and activities.
- Driving team engagement and demonstrating inclusive leadership by enabling accountability and ownership, proactively calling on team members views and inputs and challenging any bias.
- Quickly establishing rapport and relationships with stakeholders at various levels both internally and externally.

What We’re Looking For
- Strong project management and leadership skills with a focus on ensuring consistent and high-quality output.
- Proven track record of coordinating team members to seamlessly deliver projects whilst meeting deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills with a keen eye for detail and a strong focus on accuracy, consistency and quality control.
- Digitally proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Project and various other Microsoft platforms.
- Proficiency in Project Management methodologies, tools, and techniques beneficial.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience maintaining and managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work collaboratively and enjoy working in an innovative environment with the ability to work autonomously when needed.
- Data analytic skills are highly desirable (but not required), and the ability to present data driven insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Remuneration & Employment Type
This is a 12-month fixed-term (ending 31/12/2025), part-time (3 days/week) position, based in Brisbane CBD with a starting base salary of $146,240 plus 12.75% superannuation and hybrid work options to support the balance between work and personal commitments. Please note Wednesdays are mandatory “in office” days.
