- TCSA Salaried Employees Award, Clerk Grade 7/ 8, annual base salary ranging from $106,025 to $117,363 + plus 11.5% superannuation & leave loading
Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior HR Advisor to play a pivotal role in planning and supporting our unique workforce at the zoo.
This is a new position at the zoo; we’re looking for a senior leader who enjoys the buzz of an in-demand operational team, has a passion for wildlife conservation, and the thought of working for a world class conservation organisation excites you!
Based at Taronga Western Plains Zoo, in the zoo grounds; this role drives strategic HR projects and provides end-to-end generalist support to dedicated client groups with the support of the wider PCS team.
The zoo is in an exciting period of upcoming expansion; therefore we are looking for an expert in the HR field, who has hands on experience and knowledge in Talent and Workforce Planning.
There is the option to discuss a 4-day part time, or 5-day full time working week during the interview process. Please specify your preference on your application.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with senior executives and managers to find solutions to people challenges
- Manage workforce planning activities and projects in consultation with Taronga’s Management and Executive Team, providing advice and support to managers and employees regarding workforce composition and capabilities and organisational goals
- Partner with senior executives and managers to interpret and apply policies and practice, and consult on the implementation of people initiatives across the full employee life cycle (e.g., workforce planning and recruitment, performance reviews, talent and succession planning, employee engagement)
- Provide support and advice to managers and employees to understand, implement and work within people policies, guidelines and practices and employment legislation (e.g., NSW Public Sector legislation, in particular the Government Sector Employment Act, Regulations and Rules)
- Coach managers on complex matters including absences, behaviour-related discussions, underperformance, and grievances
- Develop HR procedures and ensure Taronga’s Awards are maintained and acted upon, including liaison with relevant NSW government agencies, unions and delegations and the coordination of the Joint Consultation Committees
- Conduct investigations into grievances, misconduct and unsatisfactory performance
- Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate stakeholders both internal and external, in particular all Unions party to Taronga’s award and relevant NSW government agencies
- Assist the Human Resource team to develop training programs and materials to address the learning needs of the organisation and its people.
- Provide support to the WHS team in regard to Workers Compensation and non work-related injuries as they impact employee relations issues
- Develop tools to support the implementation of HR initiatives Proactively source people data, drawing insights that impact business outcomes and mitigate risks to help inform people strategies, and
- General HR duties including drafting employment contracts, letters and reports, updating organisational charts and position descriptions and maintaining employee files.
We are looking for candidates that have:
- Experience managing workforce planning activities to provide advice and support to managers and employees regarding workforce composition and capabilities and organisational goals
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or equivalent experience in a similar role
- Significant experience and expertise in workforce planning in a complex organization
- Experience with managing employee relations matters and industrial instruments
- Prior experience working in HR in the NSW Government context under the Government Sector Act highly desirable
- Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check
