Who are we?

Established in 1994, Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit organisation who provides essential and community services to remote Aboriginal communities across the Pilbara, Gascoyne, and Mid-West regions of Western Australia. We also manage accommodation at Mirnutharntu Maya (meaning accommodation to support learning) located in South Hedland which is a 48 bedroomed facility designed for individuals to reside while undertaking training and education.

Reporting to the HR Manager, this is a unique opportunity to join our growing HR team as an experienced HR Officer at our Burswood office. The role is diverse and dynamic and you will have the opportunity to travel to the Pilbara where our head of operations is located.  As a not-for-profit, we can offer you the ability to salary package which can increase your disposable income by reducing your taxable income.

The role

  • Ensure the delivery of a smooth end-to-end recruitment process
  • Create job ads and monitor candidates
  • Employee contract management
  • Classification of roles against the relevant Modern Award
  • Assistance with performance management and grievance issues as required or willing to be developed
  • Workers’ compensation claims management
  • Coordinate the exit process including conducting exit interviews
  • Assist with adhoc projects as required including system process improvements

About you

  • Qualification in Human Resources or experience equivalent
  • A team player with a positive, can do it attitude (a must)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with all levels in a business
  • Demonstrates initiative and problem solving capabilities
  • Recruitment experience
  • HR system knowledge
  • Knowledge of the Fair Work Act, NES and Award interpretation
  • Performance management experience or willingness to develop
  • Workers compensation experience is desirable
  • Ability to travel when required
