The ongoing race for HR talent around Australia will ensure that key HR personnel will enjoy significant salary increases, according to the Global Salary Survey released by HR specialist firm Robert Walters.

An HR director can expect to enjoy a health 13 per cent increase to their paychecks this year, while an HR manager’s wallet will fatten by an estimated 9 per cent this year. HR consultants, who already command envious salaries , can expect a massive 20 per cent boom to their pay packets in 2013.

Marisa Iuculano, Robert Walters Manager of HR recruitment explained that the root cause of the skyrocketing pay packets was the ongoing drive to snatch up and retain talent across all sectors.

“Organisations will focus on retaining the teams and top talent that saw them through the volatile economy of the past 18 months.  Therefore, a strong HR function will be integral for many companies,” Ms Iuculano said.

“Therefore, a strong HR function will be integral for many companies. We also expect to see continued demand for strong talent managers, as organisations attempt to increase productivity and engagement while reducing costs.”

The survey also found:

  • Strong HR business partners with an ability to add commercial value will be highly sought after
  • Quarters two and three are expected to be the strongest as the economy continues to recover
  • The contract market will continue to perform strongly, as some parts of the market will still be hesitant to add to their permanent headcount
