QLD probes own integrity
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced an investigation into culture and accountability within her government.
The announcement of an independent review follows weeks of damning integrity allegations, including several former and outgoing public servants saying a review is needed.
Emeritus Professor Peter Coaldrake, a former vice-chancellor of QUT, has been brought in to lead the review, which will focus on six key areas:
-
ethical decision-making and impartial advice
-
interactions between integrity bodies
-
public service and the executive level
-
ethics and integrity framework legislation
-
the adequacy of systems to prevent integrity and ethics issues arising
-
the adequacy of training and the timeliness of processes to resolve any complaints
The review should run for four months, with an interim report after two months.
Ms Palaszczuk says she will publish both those reports and “will act on all the recommendations”.
