PS school for old house
A new APS academy is being planned for Australia’s Old Parliament House.
The new academy set to be based at Old Parliament House is intended to offer leadership classes for public servants.
It should also offer courses on promoting integrity in the workplace.
Assistant minister for the public service Ben Morton says that the ‘Australian Public Service Academy’ should be able to begin supporting teaching and development for bureaucrats by mid-2021.
The new academy is designed to connect to existing APS training facilities, academic institutions and specialist training services.
Mr Morton says it will offer a single approach to training staff within the public service.
The announcement comes after last year’s review of the public service commission's Centre for Leadership and Learning, which has also been involved in training for public servants.
the public service in Australia's democracy.
Assistant Minister Morton emphasised that although the Academy would not be a ‘bricks and mortar’ institution, it will be headquartered as a tenant in Old Parliament House.
Further details on the APS Academy will be announced at the State of the Service event in Canberra, on 19 February 2021.
