The Australian Government has opened a public consultation for its National Nursing Workforce Strategy.

The new strategy seeks to address the challenges facing Australia’s nursing sector.

The draft strategy is now available for public review and feedback, and the government is calling for input from nurses, students, educators, administrators, and healthcare consumers.

It is part of the Albanese Government's efforts to develop a coordinated national plan for the nursing workforce, ensuring that Australians, regardless of location, receive high-quality healthcare.

Feedback from stakeholders should help refine the strategy before its final approval by state and territory health ministers.

The government is also attempting to integrate this initiative with other nursing reforms, such as the Nurse Practitioner Workforce Plan and the Independent Review of Overseas Health Practitioner Regulatory Settings.

Additionally, targeted consultations with First Nations stakeholders and peak bodies are planned.

Feedback can be submitted through the National Nursing Workforce Strategy website.
