New head takes charge of depression NFP
One of Australia’s lead charities in the fight against depression has a new CEO.
beyondblue has announced the appointment of Georgie Harman as chief executive.
The beyondblue board selected Ms Harman from more than 70 applicants this week..
Georgie Harman is currently the Deputy CEO of the National Mental Health Commission and has had a long and successful career in the public service, community and the Not-For-Profit sectors.
.“After interviewing the final three candidates yesterday morning, the Board unanimously selected Georgie for the role,” beyondblue Chairman Jeff Kennett said.
He added that the not-for-profit group was fortunate that a candidate with a good knowledge of beyondblue and a broad background in government and the mental health sector offered themself for the position.
Ms Harman said that she was very excited to take up the new position.
“beyondblue is a wonderful organisation that has huge potential to continue making a significant difference to those affected by mental health issues,” she said.
“I am looking forward to working with Jeff Kennett and the Board of beyondblue together with the staff on behalf of all Australians.”
Ms Harman will start her appointment in early May.
