My Health Record to be tightened
The Federal Government is amending its e-health legislation after intense public outcry.
The escalating controversy over My Health Records has caused Health Minister Greg Hunt to amend the system, so that no record can be released to police or government agencies without a court order.
“The Digital Health Agency’s policy is clear and categorical – no documents have been released in more than six years and no documents will be released without a court order. This will be enshrined in legislation,” Mr Hunt said.
“This change to the My Health Record Act will therefore remove any ambiguity on this matter”.
The Federal Government is also changing the legislation so that people can cancel their record permanently and have their details deleted from the system.
