Government injects $6 million into career strategy
The Federal Government has announced it will be injecting $6.1 million into the newly developed National Career Development Strategy aimed at helping students find rewarding careers.
Minister for School Education and Youth Peter Garrett launched the National Career Development Strategy at the annual Career Development Association of Australia conference in Sydney.
"Our strategy includes a focus on meeting the needs of young people as they begin their career journeys,” Mr Garrett said.
"Research shows one of the main things young people want is to talk to people who are already in a career and get an insider’s view of what the workplace is really like.
"That’s why we are funding a range of initiatives to get young people connected to the workplace, especially those who are experiencing disadvantage.”
The $6.1 million investment supports an initial suite of Making Career Connections projects to complement the release of the National Career Development Strategy.
