Funding for high-tech jobs project
PrintThe University of Canberra has received a funding boost to assist a program that connects unemployed people with potential careers.
A team of researchers led by Professor of Information Systems, John Campbell and Professor of Service Management, Byron Keating, received grant from the Australian Research Council to explore how IT systems can streamline access to employment services for job-seekers.
Professor Keating said the $290,000 Linkage Project grant would allow the Government to keep up with expected job-creation rates: “Delivering employment services that are aligned to the needs of government, and that meet the expectations of citizens is a pressing challenge for the Australian Government... we are thrilled because this grant will allow us to better understand how information systems support the delivery of employment services,” he said.
Partner organisations in the University of Canberra’s project include; the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, National Employment Services Association, Jobs Australia Ltd, National Disability Services and Disability Employment Australia.
