The Federal Government has announced the latest series of job workshops for sacked Queensland public servants, with the first one kicking off in Brisbane before heading north.

Federal Employment Minister, Kate Ellis, said that the workshops will help Queenslanders back into employment after the State Government announced cuts to the public service.

“The workshops and one-on-one career coaching sessions are being offered to more than 400 workers who were handed redundancies,” Ms Ellis said.

“I am proud that this Government is taking direct action to help those public sector workers that find themselves without jobs, through no fault of their own.”

The workshops would be held at seven locations in Queensland - Brisbane, Chermside, Eight Mile Plains, Caboolture, Cairns, Townsville and Rockhampton.

They will be delivered by experienced, professional career counsellors who will provide advice to help people get back on their feet and find work.

Two workshops will be held in each location – a general session in the morning and a session specifically targeted to those made redundant from the health sector in the afternoon.
