Big firms face laundering claims
NAB, Crown and SkyCity are all facing AUSTRAC money laundering investigations.
Multi-million-dollar penalties are on the table for potential breaches of anti-money laundering laws, with NAB, Crown and SkyCity all informing investors they have been referred to AUSTRAC’s enforcement team.

NAB has had ongoing discussions with AUSTRAC regarding potential non-compliance since 2017. The bank says it has spent around $800 million in a multi-year program to improve its fraud and financial crime controls.
AUSTRAC offers a wide range of enforcement options, including civil penalties, enforceable undertakings, infringement notices and remedial directions.
