The Role

The Business Excellence Specialist is responsible for TasNetworks fit for purpose Business Excellence program and developing a sustainable culture of continuously improving our business, focused on delivering increased stakeholder value.

The role is initially responsible for building and implementing TasNetworks Business Excellence program in line with the approved approach, budget and timelines. This includes the integration of Business Excellence philosophy into existing key initiatives, and building capability and tools to empower leaders and team members to make improvements and realise efficiencies in day-to-day work.

Building on this the role is responsible for integrating business excellence into TasNetworks management systems and executing continuous improvement efforts throughout the company to meet service, quality and cost objectives.

This role is instrumental in championing Business Excellence and ensuring that TasNetworks develops and supports an enduring culture where our people are motivated and empowered to drive business improvement outcomes across the organisation.

The Team

TasNetworks commenced operations on 1 July 2014. It has been formed by a merger between Aurora's distribution network (the poles and wires) and Transend's network (the big towers and lines).

TasNetworks supplies the power from the generation source to homes and businesses through a network of transmission towers, substations and powerlines. We also:

  • build, maintain and operate the network
  • establish new connections where infrastructure does not currently exist
  • respond to, and repair, outages and faults
  • operate and maintain a 24-hour fault call centre
  • read, replace and repair your meter
  • provide education, advice and information about electrical safety
  • deliver nationally accredited training to lineworker apprentices, contracts and sub-contractors, local councils and civil construction organisations
  • own and operate a telecommunications business that serves customers in the electricity industry and other industries.
